Over the years, Brighton has hosted a number of festivals that have sought to champion and promote a culture of peace, social inclusion, social and environmental justice as well as showcasing talent from the more alternative end of the artistic and cultural spectrum. After a couple of years without an event, a group of local community social activist and event managers have come together to revisit the idea, with a view to holding an event on Sunday 22nd July 2012.
Aims:
To create a platform on which local groups and individuals working in the following fields can present their work :
* Peace and non-violence.
* Social inclusion, cohesion and resilience.
* Environmental awareness and ecology.
* Alternative Energy
* Well-being and happiness.
* Complementary health
* Social justice
* Development
* Cultural diversity
To raise awareness of issues which can therefore improve the quality of life, well being and health of society, both at an individual and social level.
To promote collaboration and partnership working, skill sharing and mutual-support.
To create opportunities for local people to take a more active and participatory role in creating a healthier and happier community.
Objectives:
To hold an annual festival, organized on a modular basis, at which local groups and individuals working in these fields can showcase their work and raise the awareness of the audience.
To organise an on-going network through which groups and individuals can network, develop partnerships, publicise and promote projects and events and generally thereby raise the capacity of the local progressive community.
